Description

The “National Research Network on Climate Change and its Impacts – CLIMPACT” is an interdisciplinary consortium involving the majority of the country’s academic and research institutions related to Climate Change and the associated climate risks, natural disasters, and social and economic impacts.

The Greek State, in cooperation with the country’s scientific institutions and following the international trends imposed by the climate crisis, as well as the lived experience of recent years, has set as a major objective the study of the phenomenon and impacts of Climate Change, along with the need to develop innovative tools and related services for early warning. To effectively achieve this objective, the flagship initiative “National Network on Climate Change and its Impacts” was organized in 2017 at the initiative of the National Observatory of Athens and the research sector of the then Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, and was funded at the end of 2019 by the Ministry of Development and Investments and the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation.
